About The Weaver Mountains Chamber of Commerce and the Communities we serve.
The Weaver Mountains are a range of mountains located in rural unincorporated southwest Yavapai County Arizona. The range extends some 25 miles, south to north, from Congress, AZ (elev. 3,000 ft.) at its base. The west side of the range includes the highest peak in the range – Weaver Peak at over 6,500 ft. elevation and the east side of the range includes Antelope Peak at nearly 5,800 ft. elevation. The valley spanning the west and east side of the range is narrowest at the south end where the communities of Glen Ilah and Yarnell nestle and hug the mountain side and widest on the north end beyond Kirkland Junction and up to Wilhoit. At its broadest, the valley is about 12 miles wide.
Winding its way through the Weaver Mountains is Arizona Scenic State Route 89, a leg on the historic trans-continental, border to border US 89. The communities along and proximate to the S SR 89 corridor in the Weaver Mountains region are: Congress, Stanton/Octave, Glen Ilah, Yarnell, Peeples Valley, Kirkland Junction, Wagoner, Walnut Grove, Wilhoit, Kirkland, Hillside and Skull Valley covering some nearly 400 sq. miles.
Each community in the Weaver Mountains region is unique in its own way; with unique histories, geologies/topographies/biodiversity, local culture and customs, demographics and local economies. The region as a whole offers diverse and individual experiences and opportunities for residents, businesses and visitors: There are schools, churches, fire districts, water companies, restaurants, artists, crafts folk, antiques, ranches, cemeteries, historical societies, community gardens, community centers, professional services, hiking/walking trails, bicycle and motor cycle routes, and so much more spanning that 25 mile range.
There are traditions of generous volunteerism it is these communities that the Weaver Mountains Chamber of Commerce serves.
